PAUSE FOR A MOMENT - September 10

Isaiah 55:11
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

God's word never fails. Whatever he says he will do is a certainty. His purposes are never thwarted. If he sends his word out it will return with what he set out to accomplish. It will never be a wasted trip.

When we look around us and it does not seem like things are working out like they should we should remember that what we are seeing are working out according to God's plan. It is not our plan but his.

May we not equate our plans with God's plans but always seek for his will to be done even if it is different from ours.

PAUSE FOR A MOMENT - September 9

Isaiah 55:10
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

Everything God does have a pupose. Sometimes we are blessed to know and see the purpose for things happening in our lives and other times we may never know the purpose on this side of heaven.

God sends the rain and snow for the purpose of watering the earth so that it will produce seed and harvest.

There are times in our lives when the rain and snow may seem a bit much but if we always remember that there is a purpose behind it we will find a way to praise God through the rainstorms and the snowstorms.

PAUSE FOR A MOMENT - September 8

Isaiah 55:9
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

God has made sure to let us know through the prophet Isaiah that he is infinitely way above mortal men.

Our thoughts and ways are not even comparable to the eternal, infinite, awesome GOD whom we serve.

May we always seek God's ways as we pray, 'not my will but thine be done'.

PAUSE FOR A MOMENT - September 7

Isaiah 55:8
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.

It is a good thing that God's thoughts and ways are not our thoughts and ways. The sovereign God is able to see everything from eternity's perspective.

Our thoughts are one dimensional and they often come from a selfish place and motivated by our limited vision.

May we learn to rely on an infinite, sovereign GOD whose thoughts and ways are far beyond our finite, limited minds.

PAUSE FOR A MOMENT - September 6

Isaiah 55:7
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord , and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

The true God is merciful and always willing to abundantly pardon. He has an everlasting love for us. A love that does not change as he is the same as he has been in the past and will be in the future.

If we seek a relationship with true GOD he will never turn us away because he is inviting us to go to him and seek his mercy.

Our natural human condition is sinful and wicked. When we desire something more that evil continually we are ready to accept the invitation. When we turn from our wicked ways we are ready for a relationship WIth GOD.

PAUSE FOR A MOMENT - September 5

Isaiah 55:6
Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

The Lord can still be found today. He is still inviting us to seek him. He is the GOD who always exists in the present. The eternal present God. As long as we are in the conscious present we can accept the invitation.

Our relationship with God is always in the present. When we awake in the morning we are invited to seek the Lord. We are invited to call on him to find help in our present need.

Today is the acceptable time. Today is the day of our salvation.

PAUSE FOR A MOMENT - September 4

Isaiah 55:2
Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

Many of us are wasting our time, talents and our very lives on things that will never fill the need that is inside. Only our Creator and Sustainer knows our needs and what it takes to satisfy us.

Our priorities need to be changed so that we are doing what it takes to truly satisfy our souls. The invitation is freely given to us and we are encouraged to eat that which is good so that our souls will be well-fed and we will experience fullness and delight.

This can only come from the supplier of all good things. He is our Creator, he knows what we need and he longs to fill us with himself.

PAUSE FOR A MOMENT - September 3

Isaiah 55:1
Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

The invitation is given to all. It does not matter who we are. If we are thirsty and need to be quenched we only need to go to the supplier of all good things.

If we need water he has it; if we need milk he has it; if we need wine he can supply that too. He is inviting us to go to him even if we have no money. He will still let us receive his bountiful good gifts.

May we accept this gracious invitation today.

PAUSE FOR A MOMENT - September 2

Isaiah 61:3
... that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord , that he might be glorified.

God longs to supply our every need, physical and spiritual. He made us and he knows what is best for us. When we accept his invitation and receive beauty, joy and praise we are allowing his righteousness to shine through us.

We become trees of righteousness so all the people around us can see the working of our God.

We are planted by the Lord exactly where he wants us to grow.

When we are living out his beauty, his righteousness and his goodness, HE will be glorified so that the world may know that we serve an awesome GOD.

PAUSE FOR A MOMENT - September 1

Isaiah 61:3
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

We are loved by our God and he knows what our souls long for. He supplies our physical needs but he also seek to take care of our emotional and spiritual needs too. He looks into our souls and sends his healing power to its very depths.

He wants to take the ashes of our burnt out lives and give us beauty.
He wants to take our tears of mourning and grief and anoint us with the oil of joy.
He wants to take our spirit of heaviness and heartaches and cover us with a garment of praise.

What an awesome GOD we serve!
