Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
A very simple natural law of sowing and reaping. As long as the branch is attached to the vine it is able to bear fruit.
When we are abiding in Jesus we are also able to bear fruit. The fruit of the Holy Spirit will be seen in our lives.
Believers in Christ are called to bear much fruit. If we are not bearing much fruit we need to be pruned so that we will produce the fruit that we are called to bear.
