Luke 6:36
Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
Someone once said, 'revenge is best served cold'. We may think that just at the right moment, when it is least expected and the offending act has long been forgotten, that is the time to strike. And we always hope that it will make us feel better.
The problem with this line of thinking is that vengeance has to be in our hearts for a long time. It has to be planned and well thought out in order to execute the right kind of revenge.
Mercy, on the other hand does not use up our mind's energy. We do not have to spend time in order to plot mercy. When we have the choice to exact revenge or show mercy, may we always choose to be merciful.
