Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
The picture that is usually depicted in this verse is Jesus standing in front of a closed door knocking. We were taught that Jesus will never just barge in. He will knock until we let him in. That is an accurate description and it is good to know the choice is ours.
Let's take a minute to think about what happens after we open the door. Jesus will actually enter into our lives and fellowship with us. He will bring his loving kindness, his peace and joy and show all the good things he has in store for us.
This picture of fellowshiping with Jesus appeals to my heart more than him standing outside knocking.
