But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Jesus had very revolutionary teachings for his time. The Pharisees would always make sure the common folks saw and knew what they were giving. They exhibited their status and outwardly compared themselves to others in regards to their righteousness and their riches.
Jesus showed the people the type of giving that was acceptable to the Father. 'Do not display your giving so that you are seen by others. Let it be between you and the Father'. The Father knows and sees everything. He knows the motivations of the heart; It is never about the amount; it is always about the heart.
May we learn and practice the teachings of Jesus.
