Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed man had been cured. Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them, because they were overcome with fear. So he got into the boat and left.
FEAR will cause us to miss many spiritual blessings. Jesus could have done much for the people of the Gerasenes but they were overcome with fear. He knew that paralyzing fear would be the biggest obstacle to their blessings.
A point to consider is that Jesus mission may not have been to the people of the Gerasenes at this time. He already kept his appointment and accomplished his mission. The demon possessed man was fully clothed and in his right mind and the demons were far away from the region.
Jesus will not force his way into our lives. He is content to let the soil of our hearts be prepared until we are ready to let him in. God's will and purpose will always be done. Sometimes it takes a lifetime but it will be done.
May we not let fear be an obstacle preventing God's blessings in our lives.
