There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
It is human nature to feel fear and insecurity. The first temptation recorded in the Scriptures started with doubt. We doubt when we are not really certain. When the serpent asked Eve, 'has God said?' It made her paused, then doubt stepped in and fear that she was missing out on something good - maybe she misunderstood what God really meant? This is what doubt does to us. It causes fear.
The antidote to doubt and fear is love and trust. When we love completely, we also trust. When we trust, our faith becomes stronger; doubt and fear cannot exist when love is perfect and complete.
May we truly seek to know the God we serve, love him completely and perfectly, banishing doubt, unbelief and fear from our thoughts, confidently knowing that he loves us more than we can even imagine.
