PAUSE FOR A MOMENT - January 23

2 Chronicles 20:17
You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out and face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.

Sometimes the hardest thing to do is nothing. There is something inside us that says 'we must fight, we must get involved, we have to take care of it'. Sitting or standing still is not the answer we want to hear. Courage calls for involvement except when it calls for a different approach.

The army of King Jehoshaphat was ready to fight knowing that they would probably all be slaughtered in a couple of hours. They would go down fighting. God had a different plan. His plan included being prepared for battle but turning it into a praise and worship session.

'Give thanks to the Lord for his mercy endures forever', they proclaimed over and over again. And as they sang, the Lord turned the hearts of their enemies against each other.

The Lord is still capable of fighting our battles today!
